Writing Buddy is an essential tool specially designed to help Primary 3 to 6 students become proficient writers. Learning Edge's 2nd Animation Camp

With our inaugural Animation Camp in March 2010 proving to be a success, Learning Edge organised the second Animation Camp for our Infocomm Club schools.

The Animation Camp’s objective is to allow Infocomm Club students to apply and consolidate what they have learnt during their Infocomm Club training sessions and to provide an engaging introduction to concepts that they need for their further development.

About 300 Infocomm Club students from various schools attended the this Animation camp and our trainers were dedicated to make this event a success.

Day 1 was filled with exploration and discovery at the Pixar Animation Tour at the Singapore Science Centre, while Day 2 was filled with fun and exciting activities at Chongzheng Primary School.

Mathematical Olympiad Talent Quest at Clementi Town Secondary School

Clementi Town Secondary School, with the use of the Marshall Cavendish Online learning portal, organised a Mathematical Olympiad Talent Quest in its school for students in Singapore. The event was held on 21 May 2010 and attracted more than 200 students, participating to be the top mathematician.

One of the key components for this year's Mathematical Olympiad Talent Quest is a quiz segment which require more than 200 students to attempt a series of mathematics questions online. La Consolacion College Visits East Spring Primary School

Delegates from La Consolacion College, Manila, Philippines visited East Spring Primary School on 20 May 2010 for an exchange and sharing session with the Principal and teachers.

Marshall Cavendish Online along with Diwa Genyo, partner from Philippines, organised this session to foster relationships between the schools from the two nations. Both schools are users of the Marshall Cavendish Online's learning portal and were delighted to understand more on the differences in teaching cultures and gained invaluable tips from each other.

WrITers IgnITe with Writing Buddy

More than 70 pupils participated in the inaugural WrITers IgnITe, an essay writing competition organised by Yuhua Primary School and support by Marshall Cavendish Online's Writing Buddy courseware.

The competition is open to all Primary 5 pupils in Singapore to encourage creative writing.

The prize presentation was conducted at Yuhua Primary School on 21 May 2010 and the winners are as follows:

NCTM 2010 and Singapore Math

CHIJ Katong Primary on Massive "Smart" Trail

Pupils from CHIJ Katong Primary embarked on an extraordinary journey, taking a big step forward together with Marshall Cavendish Online.

The whole level of Primary 6, which consists of more than 200 pupils, simultaneously went on a learning trail at Labrador Park armed with Marshall Cavendish Online’s Trail Buddy innovation. Gone are days of pupils holding on to sheets of paper and pens. With the use of smartphones (iPhone) during learning trails, it offers not only functional convenience but also an opportunity to allow pupils follow-up activities such as discussions and reflections through the use of blogging features in the LEAD portal.

Mrs Tracey Hoa, HOD ICT for CHIJ Katong Primary had this to say from their experience. "Our girls where able to handle and navigate through the activities with minimal supervision on the iPhone!"

Students from the Singapore National Academy in Indonesia are now able to integrate LEAD resources as a part of their learning curriculum in class.
